On the weekend of March 28, Pacifica’s young, gritty Junior Classical League (JCL) team embodied the above phrase, which translates to "through difficulties to the stars." A fitting phrase for our team, as they took 3rd place overall in the Small School category at the Junior Classical League State convention.

The Triton Speech & Debate Team kicked off March in style with a strong showing at the Orange County Speech League’s State Qualifying Tournament.

The second annual Tolkien retreat has come to a close, and the elven dreams of Middle Earth still linger in the hearts of those who have returned. Sixteen students and six faculty/staff headed to the majestic Leonard Lake Reserve for seven days and six nights of reading, reflection, fellowship, and worship. Each day began with a full breakfast and morning worship, and every evening ended with singing the beautiful hymn Abide with Me. Then most of each day was spent reading one of the six books of The Lord of the Rings.

This past Friday, we witnessed nine talented performances for our declamations finalists, musical interludes that brought about standing ovations, and a celebration of a job well done as we call our students higher in the practices of speech and memorization.
