The Pacifica Houses
Introduction & Overview
The House System is a vibrant and integral part of our community life.
Designed to foster a sense of belonging, camaraderie, and school spirit, the House System encourages students to engage with peers across different grades and backgrounds, promoting a culture of unity and mutual support. Pacifica’s unique approach to houses also provides weekly opportunities for staff-to-student mentoring, fostering character development and encouraging growth in the Christian faith.

Structure and Organization
The Four Houses
Our student body, faculty, and staff are divided into four Houses, each named after one of the evangelists, reflecting our school’s deep commitments and heritage. Each House is a diverse mix of students and staff from all grade levels, ensuring a broad spectrum of interactions and relationships.
The House Sorting/Draft
On Sorting/Draft Day, incoming students are welcomed into their Houses, marking the beginning of their journey within our House community. This special event ensures each student feels a sense of belonging and excitement as they join their new House family.
House Organization & Leadership
Each House comprises approximately 90 students and 13 staff members, including 8 House mentors who meet weekly with students over lunch. Students within a house are split into 8 mentor groups, with separate boys' (4) and girls' (4) groups for each grade within the House.
Each House is led by a House Leader, typically a faculty member, and supported by student leaders chosen for their leadership qualities and commitment to the school’s values. These leaders are responsible for organizing House activities, mentoring younger students, and fostering a supportive House culture. There is a student representative for the entire house system who is an executive member of the Associated Students.
House Mentors & Mentor Lunches
Grade-and-gender-specific mentor groups consist of 10-12 students each, led by one adult mentor. Each group is further divided into two smaller groups of 5-6 students for bi-monthly mentor lunches.
Mentor lunches occur every Monday, with each small group meeting twice monthly in an assigned location. During these sessions, the mentor and mentees discuss the Mentor Curriculum, fostering meaningful conversations and connections over a meal.
Activities and Competitions
House Events & Experiences
Throughout the academic year, Houses participate in a variety of events, including academic competitions, house experiences & tournaments, artistic showcases, community service projects, and social gatherings. These activities challenge students, promote teamwork, and foster the development of a wide range of skills.
Points System
Houses earn points for participation and performance in various activities and competitions, with points awarded for victories as well as effort, creativity, and sportsmanship. At the end of the year, the House with the highest point total is awarded the coveted House Cup, symbolizing excellence and collective achievement.
