Father, we wish faith wasn’t necessary. We wish we could see to the heart of every mystery. We wish we could know the meaning of our suffering. We wish we could control the things that happen to us and those we love. When we are frustrated, we attempt to make you small enough to fit in the dock so we can pass our sentence—not fair, not reasonable, not loving. But as we raise the gavel we see the silent, shattered face of Christ, and our confidence unravels. Love us in our anger and in our sadness. Find us in the dark of our unknowing and sit with us.
