Biography

Roberto O. Flores de Apodaca is a dedicated and experienced high school math teacher with a passion for his content area and a love for teaching students. He works hard each semester to teach math in such a way that students are able to see mathematics not only as essential for building the modern world, but also beautiful and interesting in its own right. He finds that the most fulfilling part of being a teacher is seeing his students succeed.

Roberto grew up in Orange County and graduated from Villa Park High School where he spent most of his time wrestling. He then attended Concordia University where he became a Christian and met his wife Makayla. At Concordia, he studied History, Theology, and Political Science and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Roberto went on to earn his PhD in History at the University of South Carolina. There he taught college level history courses and published several academic articles on US History and the Revolutionary War.

After moving back to California with Makayla, Roberto transitioned to teaching High School Mathematics. He always loved studying calculus and used this passion to earn his Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics at National University. He went on to teach mathematics at both private and public high schools over the past five years. Roberto is eager to bring this knowledge and experience to Pacifica in order to help students think and live well.

Roberto currently lives in Orange County and enjoys reading, trying new restaurants (and re-visiting old favorites), and spending time with his large Cuban and Italian family. He is particularly grateful to the Lord for the recent birth of his son, Elijah.
