Biography
Cole Bishop was brought up in Texas before moving to Southern California at the age of fourteen. Though there is still affection in him for the Lone Star State, he fell in love with the natural beauty of California’s wilderness, and of course, his lovely wife Julia, whom he met at Huntington Beach High School. At Pacifica, Mr. Bishop enjoys the privilege of teaching students to be gardeners of truth, goodness, and beauty—helping them to better understand who God is and who they are through meaningful relationships, good literature, and deep talks.

Mr. Bishop received his B.S. (Hons) in Theology and Religious Studies from Liberty University, where he first cultivated an interest in church history and the development of Christian theology. Mr. Bishop furthered his education at the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, where he earned an M.A. in Philosophy, and hopefully, learned to think and write well! Mr. Bishop’s time at Biola was spiritually and personally transformative, leading him to discern his vocation to work with young adults for the glory of the Kingdom of God. As a result, Mr. Bishop first came to Pacifica in 2021 and discovered the joy of playing a small role in the transformative process that all students experience at Pacifica. There are few things Cole loves more than being in the classroom and spending time with students.

In 2023, Mr. Bishop was offered a place at the University of Cambridge to pursue a PhD in Theology at the Faculty of Divinity. He and his wife felt that their time of preparation was not over and decided to embark on an adventure of learning and discovery in the United Kingdom.  At Cambridge, Mr. Bishop continued to pursue mastery of church history, theology, and literature while cultivating a love for creative writing and poetry. There, he taught theology and literature as an undergraduate supervisor and served as editor of the Noesis Review for Theology and PoetryMr. Bishop was paid the honor of representing the university at conferences around the globe and belonged to several societies that were dear to him, such as the C.S. Lewis Society, the Roger Scruton Society, the Cambridge Center for the Study of Platonism, the Donald MacKinnon Society for the Philosophy of Religion, and others.

In his spare time, Cole enjoys spending time with Julia and their families, backpacking in the High Sierras, surfing, writing, and learning. He and his wife are thrilled that the Lord has led them back to the Pacifica community and look forward to the continued pursuit of thinking and living well.
