Girls Flag Football Earns Historic First Victory
August 19th, 2025
The Pacifica Christian girls' flag football team made history on Monday afternoon, earning the program's first-ever win with a 19-6 victory over Loara High School under first-year Head Coach Matt Murphy.
In front of a strong Triton Nation fan base, a strong defensive performance, and timely scoring, the Tritons set the tone for what looks to be a promising inaugural season. Freshman, Grace Murray led the way with two touchdowns and a key interception, sparking the offense and keeping momentum on Pacifica's side. Fellow playmaker, Gracie Ellison added a touchdown of her own to stretch the lead, all led by freshman quarterback, Kailaya Cutchins.
On defense, the Tritons showed relentless energy. Murray, Maja Jeffers, Alexa Charfauros, and Kianna Cutchins each recorded interceptions, stopping Loara's drives and creating scoring opportunities. Sophomores, Riley Robertson and Baylee Brimer, were relentless on defense, giving the Loara quarterback no time to generate any offense.
"The Girls Played Hard, it was so fun to see," said Head Coach Matt Murphy.
With their first victory secured, the Tritons look to build on this historic moment and continue their growth throughout the season. They will be on the road tomorrow Tuesday, August 19 at Ontario Christian before hosting Western Christian Thursday, August 21 at home.
