Four-Year Plan

At Pacifica we work with students to align their coursework to achieve their college goals.  Once they determine their schools of choice we develop with them their four-year study plan.  By following this plan they become a top candidate to their schools of choice. We begin this process during their freshman year.  We continue the process until they enroll in college. This process has successfully placed Pacifica graduates on college campuses across the country.  Review the process in detail below.

Freshman Year – An introduction

  • Quarterly meetings with the academic counselor
  • Class day trip to a college in Southern California 
  • PSAT – preparation begins
  • SAT – problems introduced in class
  • Guidance selecting 10th grade courses & connecting to school
  • Freshman parent night – starting the journey

Sophomore Year – Building confidence

  • Quarterly meetings with the academic counselor
  • Class day trip to a college in Southern California
  • Optional day trips to colleges throughout Southern California
  • PSAT – preparation continues.   PSAT tutoring and PSAT bootcamp available
  • All sophomores take the PSAT.
  • Guidance selecting 11th grade courses & staying involved
  • SAT – Problems continued in class
  • MOCK ACT & SAT offered
  • Sophomore parent night – staying on course
  • Service & summer options introduced
  • College representatives on campus – small groups

Junior Year – paving the way

  • Quarterly meetings with the academic counselor
  • Small group meetings with the college counselor
  • Individual meetings with the college counselor
  • College representatives on campus – small groups
  • NAVIANCE – College organizational and search tool introduced
  • Optional day trips to Southern California colleges
  • PSAT preparation continues.  PSAT tutoring and PSAT bootcamp available
  • All juniors are encouraged to take the PSAT on campus
  • MOCK SAT & ACT offered
  • SAT prep course on campus
  • All juniors are encouraged to take the ACT or SAT twice
  • SAT problems continued in class
  • Service and summer options continued
  • Junior parent night – The nuts and bolts
  • Teacher recommendations requested 
  • Resume created
  • The College List – safety, target and reach schools identified
  • College essay writing workshop – summer

senior year – opening doors

  • Small group meetings with the college counselor
  • Individual meetings with the college counselor
  • College application workshop week – on campus
  • NAVIANCE – college organizational and search tool utilized
  • SAT/ACT/SUBJECT TESTS taken
  • Optional Southern California day trips taken
  • Fly-ins and out of state college trips scheduled
  • Personal statement workshops 
  • College representative on campus – small groups
  • Senior parent night – Finalizing applications, transcripts and test scores
  • Financial Aid night – The FAFSA, need based aid, merit aid
  • Signing Day – Pacifica athletes sign letters of intent

The transition to college is a major one in life and ought to be weighed heavily. At Pacifica we equip each student with the resources needed to make the most informed decision possible. At the end of a student’s fourth year Pacifica will have prepared them to have many good options as they dive headlong into their future.
