Senior Activities and Commencement

The end of each school year is an exciting time when we celebrate our senior’s successful completion of the Pacifica program and send them out to a lifetime of faithfulness and contribution. The entire Pacifica community enjoys this time of celebrating and honoring our seniors.

Senior WedgeWeek Activities
January 22-27, 2018
Seniors will host activities for the entire school

Senior WedgeWeek Game Day Show – Tentative
January 26, 2018 at Vanguard University
Seniors will host a show during Game Day of WedgeWeek.

Senior Class Photos and Burgers
February 16, 2018 10:45 am – 1:25 pm
On this day, seniors will be taken to Balboa Pier for a private photo shoot. During the shoot, we will take a classic class photo as well as candids and group pictures. After the photo shoot, they will head over to Ruby’s for lunch. Seniors will be back on campus for their final period of the day.
Cost: $10-15

Advanced Placement Exams
April 30 – May 11, 2018
Exact AP Exam dates and times are scheduled by the College Board.

Senior Exams
May 15 – May 18, 2018
End-of-term examinations for seniors. Times TBA

Senior Day
May 18, 2018
Following their last high school exam, the senior class will embark on a fun surprise adventure for the rest of the day, and into the evening.
Cost: $50-75

Senior Projects
May 19 – June 4, 2018
The location and time vary depending on the specifics of each senior’s project. All seniors back on campus during commencement week to work on finalizing presentations and preparing exhibits. Click here to learn more about Senior Projects.

Senior Families Baccalaureate Service
Wednesday June 6, 2017, 8:30 am – 9:15 am
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Road, Newport Beach 92663
A worship service, reflecting on the spiritual growth of our seniors and preparing our hearts to send them out to live lives of faithfulness and contribution.  Attendance is expected for staff, every senior, and their parents.

Senior Families Breakfast
Wednesday, June 6 at 9:30 am – 11:30 am
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Road, Newport Beach 92663
Senior Breakfast is an intimate time of celebration and recognition for the senior class. Information on the Senior Family Breakfast, planned by the school and hosted by junior parents, is emailed to senior families. The breakfast is reserved only for seniors and their parents. Attendance is expected for staff, every senior, and their parents.

Commencement Rehearsal
Wednesday, June 6, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Mandatory commencement rehearsal for all seniors, flag bearers, and other students participating in the commencement ceremony.

Optional Senior Hangout Afternoon
The Senior Class can choose to host an afternoon together before tomorrow’s commencement ceremony.

Senior Reflection
Thursday, June 7,  2018, 9:00 am -10:45 am
Pacifica Campus
A time for the seniors to formally and informally share with faculty and staff their thoughts and observations about their time at Pacifica. Attendance is expected for staff and every senior.

2018 COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

Thursday, June 7, 2018, 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Road, Newport Beach 92663
All are welcome to attend this joyful, worshipful celebration of the members of our Senior Class as they receive their diplomas and commence to the next season of thinking and living.

Tickets are not required. Doors will open at 4:00 pm for seniors’  families for priority seating. All others may enter at 4:10 pm. Please be mindful to arrive and park in time to be in your seat before the procession begins promptly at 4:30 pm.

All seniors, flag bearers, and other participants in the commencement ceremony, including Chorale singers, should be at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church by 3:30 pm. A professional photographer will take at least one photo of each graduate as they receive their diploma. He is available to photograph family groups after the ceremony.

Other Important Information

Caps & Gowns, Graduation Announcements, and Other Graduation Stuff
In January, Scott from Scott Graduation Services will meet with all seniors regarding Caps & Gowns, Graduation Announcements, and other graduation paraphernalia.

Caps & Gowns: The cost of the cap and gown is included in a student’s Senior Fee and will be ordered by the school. Seniors will receive their cap and gown during Senior Week.

Graduation Announcements: Graduation announcements are ordered by the family and cost approximately $1.20 each. Graduation announcement orders will be made in January/February.

Diploma: Diplomas and Diploma Covers are provided by the school. If you would like your student’s formal name on their diploma to be different than their formal name as it is listed within RenWeb, please email Nicole Warren by March 1, 2018.

Other Graduation Paraphernalia: Scott Graduation Services will provide families with opportunities to purchase other graduation items when you place your graduation announcement order.

Graduation Memorabilia Tables
At Graduation, tables are placed in the foyer of the church to celebrate our seniors. Parents are welcome to display a special item(s) that represents their graduates Pacifica experience. The item(s) can also represent an important Pacifica memory. The item(s) should be something that represents well the graduate and the school, and will add to our celebration of our graduates at Graduation. Please download and complete this form and include it with the item(s) when you drop them at the front office.

For example; an art project, a costume from a play or musical, a project from a class, and academic award or certificate, etc. In addition to your items, the parent must also submit two photos. One photo from your graduates early childhood and the other from their senior year (please label the back of both photos).

Each item(s), the photos, and item form (form is forthcoming) must be submitted to Nicole Warren in the front office by May 25, 2018.

Requirements for Graduation
If you have questions regarding requirements for graduation please reference the Academics Section of the Student Handbook.

Seniors who earn one or two Fs in core academic classes which are required for graduation from Pacifica, or are missing core academic classes that are required for graduation from Pacifica in either semester of any academic year, will not receive their diploma at graduation. All courses in dispute must be completed, with a passing grade of D or higher, before a diploma will be is- sued. These students will, however, be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies.

Seniors who earn more than two Fs in required core academic classes or are missing required core academic classes in either semester of any year will not be allowed to participate in graduation. Seniors must make up the classes in dispute to receive a diploma at a later date.
