Fall Sports Recap

355Boy’s Sand, competing in the competitive OCBVL (Orange County Beach Volleyball League), had a turnaround season from their 2016 campaign. Finishing the regular season in 4th place, with an overall record of 6-2, they advanced to the semi-finals of the OCBVL, falling to eventual tournament champions Newport Harbor. Boy’s Sand will only lose two seniors going into the 2018 season; you can be sure to see them making another postseason run. 

Boy’s Cross Country was the 2nd team to qualify for the postseason this past fall. Running in the San Joaquin League, they finished the regular season in 5th place, qualifying for the CIF-SS prelims this past weekend. Led by Junior 1st Team All-League runner Nicholas Kutcher; your Tritons finished a respectable 13th in their heat of 21 schools at the CIF-SS prelims. 

“It was a great season, and I am so proud of what our Boy’s Cross Country team accomplished. They were the first Cross Country team in school history to make the postseason, and with all our runners coming back next year, I am looking forward to what the future has to offer” says Head Coach, Chelsea Calkins.

Girl’s Volleyball was the final Fall Sports team to qualify for the CIF-SS postseason. Finishing the regular season ranked #7 in the CIF-SS Division 10 polls, and placing 5th in the competitive Express League, the Lady Tritons qualified for Division 10 postseason play. Led by Junior 2nd Team All Leaguer Maddy Alaluf, and Junior Express League Honorable Mention Breck Burwell, the Lady Tritons advanced to the CIF-SS Quarterfinals before losing to eventual runner-up Excelsior Charter. With returning all but two seniors, you can expect the Lady Tritons to make another postseason appearance.

“I could not be prouder of our student-athletes,” says Director of Athletics & Student Life, Brandon Gonzalez. “All the dedication and hard work they committed to each of their respective sports truly paid off this past fall. I look forward to many more years of building Triton Tradition.”

The final Fall Sports team, Rowing, has their last fall season regatta this coming Saturday, November 18, when they travel to Cathedral Catholic of San Diego to compete in a dual match up.  A full recap of their season will be out in the coming weeks.
